Teachers Instructions
Welcome.
This WebQuest is centered around connecting students with their identity, environment, and community. This journey is built on the artistic process of connecting, responding, and creating. We believe that the process of exploration in each activity is critical to the success of this WebQuest and to your students as artists. We want to give students the time and space to really think about and develop their ideas, and to have fun! We are not looking for the right answer or for students to do what is expected. Our goal is to engage with students and springboard ideas for them to push the envelope of their experience in art class. For you, in this WebQuest, We highly recommend doing these files with your students. You can be a guide in kick starting conversations and asking questions to deepen the complexities and connections. It would be helpful if you could note what you notice during each exercise, what was difficult for students etc.
We recommend that each teacher participates along with their students. This again will foster creativity and community.
For the week, you could see yourself as a informed participant. As well as someone who could keep students aware of time and play videos for students that they are unable to view on their own device.
Suggested classroom protocol:
This is your classroom at the end of the day, so obviously follow the rules and routine that you have implemented.
We have 3 data files for the students to complete.
The last data file will imagine will take longer to complete, we are estimating two days. Again, it is crucial the students have enough time to really work on each file and discuss their ideas.
All Reflections will be submitted onto Google Classroom.
We expect students to have engaging responses to each file. Our rubric is slightly more abstract. There is not a minimum sentences requirement to be filled, unless we note it specifically in the instructions (see file 2). We DO require students to “show” their ideas and process. For most of the reflections students can answer our questions in any media on their sketchbook pages that they see fit. We really encourage creativity in their sketchbooks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us:
