Final File 3. A Message to the Cosmos

It is time for us to return to our home planet.
We have learned so much about the earthlings, thanks to you.
It was nice getting to know you, you are one unique human!

The data files you have given us will help restore our planet and will inspire our species to continue to seek knowledge. Before we leave we need one final thing to ensure the data file is complete.

This is the final file.
If you choose to accept. This file is in 2 parts. We need you to create a unique 3D printed object to explain yourself as your unique human experience.

Phase 1: Ideation

Ideation-the formation of ideas or concepts.

Think about our previous files.
The things you notice about humans and objects. Now it is time to connect these two concepts.

Begin to think of your message you would like to communicate about "humaness".

Click the link below to see how artist use sculpture, and use ordinary objects to activate space and communicate something unique.

Please include one artist from the list or one that you have found that influences you.

Things to think about:
Think about the negative space in your sculpture.

Consider the 360 view of your sculpture.
Consider the shape, color, and texture and what emotions sensations ideas they evoke.

Use your sketchbook as an idea board for your sculpture. The idea here is not have a fully designed sculpture but motifs and directions for your sculpture. We want to see your creative process.   Your sktetchbook should be evoking the mood and message you want to create. In your sketchbook you must:

Fill 2 pages:

Page 1)
Identify and Name your Theme:
Use at least one found object in your sketchbook and show how this relates to your theme. For example this could be a shell, a piece of fabric, a shoe string.

If you have links to images, videos, or anything else that informs your work, please include that in a message on Googleclassroom.

Be sure to think about the concepts we discussed.

Take a picture of your sketchbook pages and submit any other links or photos that inform your ideation on GoogleClassroom.

If you need to work on this at home, or bring in your found object the next day that's fine.

Vocabulary

Negative Space-Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space can produce forms (that are not the object itself but, the space around the object) that may complete the work or are relevant to the object.

Shape-A shape is an element of art. Specifically, it is an enclosed space, the characteristics are defined by other elements of art (Example- line, color, value, texture, etc.).

Color- Color is the element of art that is produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to the eye.
The three elements of color include hue, intensity, and value.

Hue- the name we give to a color ( Example- red, yellow, blue)
Intensity- the strength or vividness of the color (Example-dull, bright)
Value - a colors lightness or darkness (Example- shadows, highlights)

Texture- texture is the perceived surface quality of a work of art. For three-dimensional designs, texture is distinguished by the perceived visual and or  physical properties of the work.
